What to Know About Diversity Fly-In Programs

Did you know that some colleges and universities across the country offer programs that give students an opportunity to travel to and tour them for a few days - all for free? Here’s what you need to know about these programs and where to find them!

What to Know About Diversity Fly-In Programs

What are Diversity Fly-In Programs?

Diversity fly-in programs make space for high-achieving, low-income, and first-generation high school seniors to explore their college options. These programs offer both prospective and admitted students all-expenses-paid tours of their campuses to get a feel for the college experience. These programs typically occur in September and October of one's senior year.

What’s their purpose?

These programs offer many things to students - a taste of the college experience, a chance to ask questions, and a deeper understanding of what they do and don’t want from the college they do end up attending.

They strive to even the playing field for low-income and first-generation students. By making college tours more accessible to all and demystifying the college experience for traditionally underrepresented students, higher education can continue to become a more equal place.

Who can apply?

All students qualify, but low-income students typically take priority when selection happens.
