That's why we created a list of the largest scholarships you can find for college. We're talking about tens of thousands of dollars in free money!

Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest // Ayn Rand

Amount: $25,000

Deadline: December 27, 2024

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must read Ayn Rand's book, "Atlas Shrugged," and write an essay about it. If you’re interested but haven’t read the book yet, the Ayn Rand Institute will send a free digital copy to you.

Unigo $10,000 Annual Scholarship // Unigo

Amount: $10,000

Deadline: December 31, 2024

For this scholarship, all you have to do is answer a simple question in 250 words or less: "Would you rather be smart, funny, or rich? Why?"

Disability Scholarship // Microsoft

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: Application opens in January 2025

High school seniors who are disabled are eligible for this renewable scholarship. Must be planning to major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field. Must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Blacks at Microsoft Scholarships // Microsoft

Amount: $2,500-$5,000

Deadline: Application opens in January 2025

To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must be high school seniors of African descent with plans to pursue a degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or select business programs. Must demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and higher. Must submit one letter of recommendation, a transcript, and a maximum 500-word essay.

Women at Microsoft Scholarship // Microsoft

Amount: $5,000 

Deadline: Application opens in January 2025

High school seniors who identify as women or non-binary and plan to attend a vocational school or college to pursue a career in STEAM are eligible for this scholarship. Students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Be Bold No-Essay Scholarship // Bold.org

Amount: $25,000

Deadline: January 1, 2025

This scholarship will be awarded to the student with the "boldest" Bold.org profile. Students at any education level, state, field of study, and GPA will be considered.

Esperanza Fund Scholarship // Esperanza Education Fund

Amount: $4,000-$5,000

Deadline: Application opens January 1, 2025 

The Esperanza Education Fund provides scholarships to students from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC who are immigrants or the children of immigrants.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship // Jackie Robinson Foundation

Amount: Up to $35,000 over four years

Deadline: January 9, 2025

This scholarship is available to graduating, minority high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall of 2025. Applicants must submit 4 essays and one letter of recommendation to be considered.

Edison Scholars Program // Edison International

Amount: $50,000 over four years

Deadline: January 23, 2025

This scholarship is available to high school seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must live in Southern California Edison's service territory. Must plan to pursue a degree in STEM, demonstrate financial need, and attend an accredited four-year college or university full-time during the 2025-2026 school year.

EPP/MSI Undergraduate Scholarship Program // National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Amount: Up to $45,000

Deadline: January 31, 2025

The EPP/MSI Undergraduate Scholarship provides funds for two years of undergraduate study to rising junior undergraduate students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields that directly support NOAA's mission. Participants conduct research at a NOAA facility during two paid summer internships.

McDonald’s HACER National Scholarship // McDonald's

Amount: $5,000-$100,000

Deadline: February 6, 2025

High school seniors who have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage and have a minimum 2.8 GPA are eligible to apply for this scholarship. DREAMERS/DACA recipients are eligible to apply.

Davidson Fellows Scholarship // Davidson Institute

Amount: $25,000-$100,000

Deadline: February 12, 2025

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be 18 or younger and a U.S. citizen or resident. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of "significant work," or projects that are at, or close to, the college graduate level with a depth of knowledge in their particular area of study. Teams of two are eligible.

Gordon A. Rich Memorial Scholarship // Gordon A. Rich Memorial Foundation

Amount: $50,000 over four years

Deadline: February 20, 2025

The GAR Foundation awards up to seven scholarships worth $12,500 per year for a total of $50,000. Applicants parents and/or legal guardians must have/had a career in the financial services industry, defined as banks, investment banks, securities brokerage firms, insurance companies, fund and asset management companies, credit card and finance companies and similar businesses.

STEM Scholarship Program // IMEG

Amount: Up to $10,000

Deadline: March 14, 2025

This scholarship is open to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applicants must have financial need and be actively pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Horatio Alger State Scholarship // Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans

Amount: $10,000

Deadline: March 15, 2025

This scholarship is available to high school juniors in all 50 states who have critical financial need. applicants must "exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States," and must have a GPA over 2.0.

Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund // Shawn Carter Foundation

Amount: $10,000

Deadline: Application opens April 1, 2025

The Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund (SCSF) offers scholarships to students who demonstrate resiliency in the face of hardship and give back to their communities. Scholarship recipients can use the money to cover tuition expenses and related educational expenses, and are also able to re-apply yearly, from admission to graduation! All Shawn Carter Scholars are required to “give back” by conducting community service and serving as mentors to younger, aspiring Shawn Carter Scholars.

Davis-Putter Scholarship // Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund

Amount: Up to $15,000

Deadline: April 1, 2025

In order to be eligible for the Davis Putter Scholarship, you need to be involved in movements for progressive social change, enrolled in a degree, trade or training program, and have financial need. U.S. citizenship is not required to apply, but applicants must have participated in activities in the United States and be planning to enroll in an accredited program in the U.S. 

Google Scholarships // Google

Amount: Up to $10,000

Deadline: Varies

Burger King Scholars Program // Burger King Foundation

Amount: Varies; $1,000-$60,000

Deadline: December 15, 2024

Recipients of this scholarship will be selected based on their GPA, work experience, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.

Francis Ouimet Scholarship // Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund

Amount: Varies

Deadline: December 1, 2024

Students from Massachusetts who have served as golf caddies for 2+ years are eligible for this renewable scholarship. In addition to their applications, students must submit three essays, recommendations from their high school counselor, and recommendations from their golf club’s supervisor, as well as an Ouimet club chairman or club member recommendation.

Ron Brown Scholar Program // Ron Brown Scholar Program

Amount: $40,000 over four years

Deadline: December 1, 2024

Black high school seniors with plans to attend a 4-year accredited college or university in the fall of 2025 are eligible to apply to this scholarship. Must submit two letters of recommendation and two essays, each 500 words.

Dell Scholars Program // Dell

Amount: $20,000

Deadline: December 1, 2024

The Dell Scholars program was designed to provide a support system for the challenges many students face while pursuing a degree. 500 winners will be awarded $20,000 as well as year-round support to help them succeed in college.

Education Matters Scholarship // Unigo

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: November 30, 2024

Does your education matter? Yes, it does! Unigo is awarding one applicant $5,000 if they can answer the prompt, "What would you say to someone who thinks education doesn't matter, or that college is a waste of time and money?"

Cooke College Scholarship Program // Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

Amount: Up to $55,000

Deadline: November 14, 2024

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must intend to enroll full-time in a college or university in fall 2025, have an unweighted cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or above, and have unmet financial need.

Most Valuable Student Scholarship // Elks National Foundation

Amount: Up to $12,500 per year

Deadline: November 12, 2024

Students pursuing a four-year degree can apply to this scholarship by the Elks National Foundation. They will be awarding 500 students scholarships for four years, ranging from $1,000 to $7,500. The top 20 scholarship applicants will participate in an all-expenses paid trip to Elks National Foundation's Leadership Weekend, where they are eligible to win even more money for college.

Coca-Cola Scholars Program // Coca-Cola

Amount: $20,000

Deadline: September 30, 2024

This scholarship program “is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.”

National College Match Scholarship // QuestBridge

Amount: $325,000

Deadline: September 26, 2024

Match Scholarship Recipients are granted early admission to one of QuestBridge's college partners with a full four-year scholarship, worth over $200,000.

The Gates Scholarship // The Gates Scholarship

Amount: Full cost of attendance

Deadline: September 15, 2024

High school seniors of color are eligible for this highly competitive scholarship. Ideal candidates have "an outstanding academic record, demonstrated leadership ability, and exceptional personal success skills."

Cameron Impact Scholarship // Bryan Cameron Education Foundation

Amount: Four-year, full tuition scholarship (actual dollar amount varies based upon school selection)

Deadline: September 5, 2024

The Cameron Impact Scholarship is awarded annually to 10-15 high school students who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, community service, extracurricular activities, and academics. This scholarship covers the full tuition, fees, and books at any accredited U.S. based college or university that the recipient chooses to attend.

The Minerva Scholarship Program // Women in California Leadership

Amount: $3,000-$10,000

Deadline: May 31, 2024

This scholarship is open to California residents enrolled in a full-time college program during the 2024-2025 academic year. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and “must gender identify as a woman or girl, or are female regardless of gender identity.” Must write a 250-word personal statement.

Amount: $5,000-$30,000

Deadline: March 14, 2023

Applicants must create a doodle following the prompt "I am grateful for....." in order to be considered for this scholarship.
