Scholarships for Student Athletes

Note: Missed the deadline on any of these scholarships? That’s okay! We’ll save this list so you can apply next year.

The #WeBelongInCollege Scholarship encourages students to share brief stories about belonging. From times when they’ve struggled getting to and through college, how they overcame these challenges, and any advice they have for other students. By sharing your stories of struggle and perseverance, you will be entered to win a $2,500 or $1,000 college scholarship.

Deadline: October 31st, 2021

 BigSun Scholarship // BigSun Athletics

Amount: $500

Deadline: June 19, 2021

Both high school and college students that are student-athletes are eligible for this scholarship. Students need to submit a 500-1,000 word essay about the influence participation in sports had on them and how participation influenced their future career goals.

Billy Welu Scholarship // Professional Bowlers Association

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: June 21, 2021

This scholarship will be awarded to an amateur bowler in college who has at least a 2.5 GPA and demonstrates academic excellence and outstanding bowling talents.

CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year // California Interscholastic Federation

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: April 12, 2022

This scholarship will be awarded to high school seniors who possess integrity and honesty, and have exemplary academic and athletic accomplishments. The student must have played at least two years on a varsity sports team within California, and have a GPA of 3.5 or above.

Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program // Foot Locker

Amount: $20,000

Deadline: Not announced yet for 2021-2022

This scholarship is awarded to a student athlete that demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, good sportsmanship, strong moral character, and is committed to empowering their community.

Hy Zolet Student Athlete Scholarship // CollegeBound Foundation

Amount: $1,000 (renewable)

Deadline: June 1, 2021

A scholarship for a high school student athlete with a GPA of 2.5 or above, demonstrating leadership, athletic skills, and qualities including fairness, courage, and a good work ethic.

Mike Lozano Memorial Scholarship // Amarillo Area Foundation

Amount: $2,500 (one-time award paid over 2 semesters)

Deadline: February 2022

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior athlete from the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. Students must have a GPA of 2.0 or above in school and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher while in college. Students also should be interested in pursuing a degree in education or coaching with the goal of teaching and coaching at the high school level after graduating from college.

New York Ramblers Scholarship // New York Ramblers Soccer

Amount: $2,500

Deadline: June 1, 2022

This scholarship is for undergraduate student athletes who are members or allies of the LGBTQ+ community. Applicants for the scholarship are reviewed based on financial need, leadership in sports, LGBTQIA2S+ advocacy, academic excellence, and potential for impact based on their future goals.

Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship // Positive Coaching Alliance

Amount: $1,000 minimum

Deadline: May 31, 2021

This scholarship is awarded to a high school junior student-athlete with a GPA of 2.5 or above that “makes oneself better (personal mastery); makes teammates better (leadership); and makes the sport better (honoring the game).”

TrophyCentral Sportsmanship Scholarship Award // TrophyCentral

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: September 2021

High School Seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.25 who demonstrated unique sportsmanship, compassion, or kindness are eligible for this scholarship. Special attention will be given to applicants who will be first-generation college students or plan on entering a branch of the military.

Women’s Western Golf Foundation Scholarship // Women’s Western Golf Foundation

Amount: $10,000 paid over 4 years of undergraduate studies

Deadline: March 5, 2022

Female high school seniors who play golf, have a 3.5 GPA or higher, demonstrate outstanding character, integrity and leadership, and need financial assistance to attend college are eligible for this scholarship.
