Scholarships are a great way to pay for college! If you are going to college in Texas we have compiled a great list of scholarships you may be eligible for (and don’t have to pay back). Some of these scholarships require a separate application while others only ask you to file the FAFSA or TASFA so make sure to get that done ASAP! Need help? Terry Foundation Scholarship // Terry Foundation

This scholarship is funded by the Terry Foundation but awarded through multiple colleges and universities in Texas. Click here for the full list of schools that partner with the Terry Foundation to award scholarships. Students are only eligible if they graduated high school in Texas.

This scholarship awards community, technical, or trade college scholarships to women pursuing transportation-related study at community and trade colleges.

Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship // WTS

Amount: $5,000

This scholarship is available to women pursuing undergraduate studies in transportation or a related field. 

National CPR Foundation Healthcare and Education Scholarship Program // National CPR Foundation

Amount: $500

Deadline: Monthly; see website for more details

Incoming and current college students who are at least 18 years of age and have a minimum GPA of 2.8 are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be currently or planning to be enrolled in school majoring in a healthcare or education-related field. Applicants must submit a 500- to 750-word essay describing what motivates them in their career aspirations, and why they want to pursue or are currently studying for a healthcare or education-related degree.

Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarships // Amarillo Area Foundation

Deadline: February 9, 2024

Amarillo Area Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for different colleges, fields of study, and county of residence. Must submit transcripts, IRS tax forms, two letters of recommendation, a resume, and ACT/SAT scores. 

Valero Freshman Engineering Summit and Scholarship // Valero

Amount: $1,500 and all-expenses-paid visit to Valero Headquarters 

Deadline: February 26, 2024

This scholarship is available to college freshmen who are majoring in engineering. Must be a U.S citizen or permanent resident.

ACS Scholars Program // ACS Scholars

Amount: Varies

Deadline: March 1, 2024

This scholarship is available to minority high school seniors and college students who are studying or plan to study in fields related to chemistry. Must be or plan to be a full-time student in an accredited college or university. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. 

Beauty and Wellness Professionals Scholarship // Beauty Schools Directory

Amount: $2,500

Deadline: March 1, 2024

This scholarship is available to high school seniors and college students who are currently studying or planning to study at a beauty or cosmetology school. Both part-time and full-time students are eligible. All U.S. residents and DACA recipients are eligible to apply.

Foundation 649 Scholarship // Foundation 649

Amount: $4,000 over four years

Deadline: March 1, 2024

This scholarship is for Asian American and Pacific Islander students who are seeking a college degree and have a track record of involvement and interest in AAPI communities, issues, or causes. Applicants must write a maximum 1,000 word essay to be considered. Undocumented students are welcome to apply.

Women at Microsoft Scholarship // Microsoft

Amount: Up to $5,000 offered one time or renewable for up to four years

Deadline: March 13, 2024

High school seniors who identify as women or non-binary and plan to attend a vocational school or college to pursue a career in STEAM are eligible for this scholarship. Students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Blacks at Microsoft Scholarships // Microsoft

Amount: $2,500-$20,000

Deadline: March 13, 2024

To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must be high school seniors of African descent with plans to pursue a degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or select business programs. Must demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and higher. Must submit one letter of recommendation, a transcript, and a maximum 500-word essay.

Disability Scholarship // Microsoft

Amount: $20,000 over four years

Deadline: March 13, 2024

High school seniors who are disabled are eligible for this renewable scholarship. Must be planning to major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field. Must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Career & Technical Scholarships // Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans

Amount: Up to $10,000

Deadline: Applications open March 15, 2024

British American Foundation of Texas Undergrad Scholarship // BAFTX

Amount: Full Tuition

Deadline: March 31, 2024

If you are a Texas resident with a 3.25+ GPA who plans to major in STEM or Business, you are able to apply for this scholarship. Preference will be given to students who have completed the FAFSA.

Unboxing Your Life Video Scholarship // Sttark

Amount: $4,000

Deadline: March 31, 2024

This scholarship is open to high school seniors and current undergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizens. Applicants must create a 5-minute "unboxing" video of their life that showcases their originality and unique personality, as well as provide a 250-word biography with their application video.

“You Can’t Label People, but You Can Label Products" Scholarship // Sttark

Amount: $4,000

Deadline: March 31, 2024

This scholarship is open to high school seniors and current undergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizens. Applicants must submit a 1,000-word essay responding to the following prompt: “You can’t label people, but you can label products,” as well as design their own label related to their essay that belongs on a product, but not a person. In addition to their essay and label design, applicants must submit a 250-word biography about themselves. 

Susan Howard Community Service Award // British American Foundation of Texas

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: March 31, 2024

Available to low-income students in Texas who have "demonstrated initiative and leadership skills through their dedication to benefitting their community.” Applicants must be working on a community service project or have done so within the past 12 months.

First-Generation College Student Scholarship // Kadzai Law Group

Amount: $2,500

Deadline: April 1, 2024

This scholarship is open to first-generation undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens. Applicants must also submit a 3- to 5-minute video answering one of the prompts provided that applies to them.

BHW Scholarship // The BHW Group

Amount: $3,000

Deadline: April 15, 2024

High school seniors and college undergraduate female students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering or math are welcome to apply.

Soliant’s Sunrise Scholarship // Soliant Consulting

Amount: $1,000

This scholarship is open to incoming and current undergraduate students who are U.S. residents. Applicants must submit a 400-450 word essay answering the following prompt: “How can software engineers and developers take a more active role in adhering to technology ethics and protecting those affected by the solutions they build?"

Think For Yourself Essay Contest // Let Grow

Amount: $1,000-$5,000

Deadline: April 30, 2024

This scholarship is open to high school juniors and seniors who are U.S. residents. Applicants must submit a 600-800 word essay about their personal experiences with ideas about free speech, curiosity, and open-mindedness in their everyday lives. 

Stand Up To Distracted Driving Scholarship // Kanoski Bresney

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: May 29, 2024

This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate and graduate students who will be attending college through the fall. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants must submit an essay on a given topic related to distracted driving.

There’s Space for Everyone Scholarship // Extra Space Storage

Amount: $3,000

Deadline: May 31, 2024

This scholarship is open to incoming and current undergraduate students in the U.S. during the fall 2024 quarter/semester. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and submit an essay answering the following prompt: “How have you exhibited a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, or social justice through work, service, or other extra-curricular activities, and how will your education help you continue this commitment during college and beyond?”

Fifth Month Scholarship // Unigo

Amount: $1,500

Deadline: May 31, 2024

This scholarship is open to U.S. citizens and residents 14 years or older. Applicants must submit a maximum 250-word essay answering the following prompt: "May is the fifth month of the year. Write a letter to the number five explaining why five is important. Be serious or be funny. Either way, here's a high five to you for being original."

Semper Solaris High School Scholarship // Semper Solaris

Amount: $500

Deadline: May 31, 2024

Applicants to this scholarship must be current high school sudents who have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.0 and are enrolled full-time at an accredited high school between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023. Applicants must submit a minimum 750-word essay answering the following prompt: “How do you see Solar Power changing our country in the future?”

Make A Difference Scholarship // Jenner Law

Amount: $2,500

Deadline: June 15, 2024

This scholarship is open to students enrolled in a higher education program with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words that answers the following prompt: “What degree are you pursuing and why? What are you planning to do with your degree to pay it forward and positively impact people’s lives? Describe your goals and your ideal journey to making a difference.”

Friedman & Simon, L.L.P. Academic Scholarship // Friedman & Simon, L.L.P

Amount: $1,500

Deadline: June 15, 2024

This scholarship is open students enrolled in or admitted to an accredited college or university in the U.S. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and submit a 500-1,000 word essay answering one of the prompts listed.

Hearts for Community Scholarship // Warrick Dunn Charities

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: July 31, 2024

This scholarship program provides awards to support Texas students who are active volunteers in their community and are attending or will soon attend a two-year college, four-year college, or trade school. Two letters of recommendation showing proof of volunteer experience and a 500-word essay required.

High school juniors and seniors interested in attending an HBCU are eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is designed to get you thinking about your HBCU college path after high school. Two (2) scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded.

First-Gen Trailblazers Scholarship // Get Schooled

High school juniors and seniors who will be the first in their family to go to college are eligible for this scholarship. All you have to do is answer three short questions about your plans after high school. Two (2) scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded.

Driven Coffee Scholarship // Driven Coffee Roasters

Amount: $100-$500

Deadline: December 31, 2023

This scholarship is open to U.S. undergrad students. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment (transcripts, declaration of major, letter of intent to enroll, etc.) along with three essays answering three separate prompts.

C.I.P. Scholarship // College is Power

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: December 31, 2023

Students ages 17 years or older who plan to start a program of higher education within the next 12 months or who are currently enrolled in a program of higher education are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be citizens or residents of the U.S. and write a 150-word statement answering the following prompt: "What is your primary goal for going to school?"

Text Free For Tita Bi-Annual Scholarship // Patterson Law Group

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: December 15, 2023

Applicants to this scholarship must submit a multimedia, written, or photo PSA to reduce the number of accidents due to distracted driving in Texas. Applicants must post their submission on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtags #TextFreeForTita and #scholarship (must be public) and tag @pattersonlawgroup. Multiple entries accepted.

Pumphrey Law Scholarship // Pumphrey Law

Amount: $250-$750

Deadline: December 8, 2023

This scholarship is open to incoming and current undergraduate and graduate students in the United States. Applicants must submit an 800-1,000-word essay answering one of the following prompts:

  • What’s one problem with the criminal justice system in the US and how would you fix it?
  • Write an essay on access to legal services in the United States. This essay should focus on the need and affordability of legal services and propose ideas to help meet the demand of these services.
  • With the advancement in technology, what are some of the threats to those charged with a crime?

PixelPlex Annual Scholarship // PixelPlex

This scholarship is open to citizens and permanent residents of the United States who are incoming or current college students studying in a field of study related to science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), economics, or business.

Stephen J. Bradley Stop Hunger Scholarship // Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation

Amount: $10,000 scholarship and a $5,000 grant for your hunger-related charity

Deadline: December 5, 2023

This scholarship is open to students who are "using their creativity, academic studies, and organizational skills to help fight hunger in their communities." 

Take Care of Texas Video Contest // Take Care of Texas

Amount: $500-$2,500

Deadline: December 1, 2023

This scholarship is open to Texas high school students grades 9-12. Applicants must submit a 30-second video that portrays positive ways Texas can help keep our air clean, keep our water clean, conserve water, save energy, or reduce waste.

Semper Solaris College Scholarship // Semper Solaris 

Amount: $1,750-$3,000

Deadline: November 30, 2023

Applicants to this scholarship must have been enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university between May 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Must submit a 1,000-word minimum essay answering the following prompt: “How can solar and renewable energy help local communities?”

Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders // United States Hispanic Leadership Institute

Amount: $500-$1,000

Deadline: November 30, 2023

This scholarship is available to students enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited four-year or two-year institution in the U.S. or U.S. territories. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a verifiable need for financial support. At least one parent must be of Hispanic ancestry. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible to apply (DACA or undocumented).

“In The Driver’s Seat” Scholarship // National Driving and Traffic School

Amount: $500

Deadline: November 30, 2023

This scholarship is available to students both in the U.S. and abroad. Applicants to this scholarship must be enrolled in high school, university, or college as a full-time student. Must submit a 750-word essay answering the following questions:

  • What is the importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving?
  • What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?
  • Have you ever had an experience of being in a car accident or have seen your friends or family members driving irresponsibly?
  • What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road?

Minority/Women in STEM Scholarship // Bold.org

Amount: $500

Deadline: November 15, 2023

Any BIPOC and/or female high school senior or undergraduate who is a first-generation, low-income student interested in STEM may apply for this scholarship. Applicants must write a 400-600 word-essay answering the following prompt: “What are some challenges you've had to overcome while pursuing your education and how do you plan on making a positive impact on the world through your STEM education?”

Hustle Tech & Business News No-Essay Scholarship // Bold.org

This scholarship will be awarded to students who read The Hustle, a free daily newsletter aiming to change how young professionals consume news, and can apply what they've learned to accelerate their education and career. 

BEE, YOU Scholarship // Busy Bee's Virtual Assistance & Management, LLC

This scholarship is available to high school seniors and current college students with financial need. Applicants must be working part or full-time in addition to being students in order to qualify for this scholarship. Applicants must write a 500-word maximum essay responding to one of the provided prompts as well as submit a link to a 2-minute video sharing your experience as a working student.

Animal Rescue Scholarship // Aulsbrook Law Firm

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: September 30, 2023

This scholarship will be awarded “to a caring individual who demonstrates their love for animals and a commitment to increasing animal welfare.” Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 and higher, and must write a 750 word essay that answers the following prompt: “Discuss your relationship with a rescue animal or volunteer animal organization and how it has impacted your life. How do you dedicate your time to helping animals and animal rescue organizations?” Applications and transcripts must be submitted to [email protected].

This scholarship is open to any current high school seniors, vocational students, or college students in the U.S. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. and submit a 750-1000 word essay response to the prompt: Share with us a story of how you or a family member overcame hardships as a first-generation college student and the lessons you or your family member have learned along the way.

RealityHop Scholarship // RealityHop

Amount: Up to $2,000

Graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students in the United States who demonstrate ambition, diligence, leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must submit a maximum 500 word essay answering the following prompt: “Imagine yourself 10 years in the future after having graduated college and living the life of your dreams: find a listing on RealtyHop you picture yourself living in and write what your favorite room or feature is on the listing and why it is important to your future life.”

Rodeo Enthusiast Scholarship // Rodeo Ticket

Amount: $500

This scholarship is available to students who either grew up going to rodeos or went to one for the first time as an adult. Applicants must write a 700-1,500 word essay about the experience. Must include a photo of yourself with your essay submission. Scholarship available to students in all 50 states.

Novus Biologicals Scholarship Program // Novus Biologicals

Amount: $1,500

Deadline: July 19, 2023

This scholarship is open to students worldwide enrolled or accepted for enrollment in undergraduate or graduate studies with a declared major in a science related field. Applicants must submit a personal statement and a statement on what they believe is the biggest hurdle for people working in their specific field of interest and why.

Advocates Law Scholarship // The Advocates Injury Attorneys

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: June 30, 2023

This scholarship is open to current and incoming students currently enrolled in an accredited college in the United States. Applicants must submit a 300-500-word essay answering the following prompt: “What are some of the problems we face on the roads? How can you contribute to improving road safety? What laws (if any) could be changed to accomplish the goal of making streets safer for everyone?”

Southwestern Regional Scholarship // Korean American Scholarship Foundation

Amount: Varies

Deadline: June 30, 2023

Full-time students who are of Korean descent are eligible for this scholarship. Students must be enrolled at a college or university in one of the designated Southwestern region states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas) during the 2022-2023 school year. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and can demonstrate need for financial assistance.

STEM Scholarship // NextStepU

Amount: $1,500

Deadline: June 30, 2023

This scholarship is open to students who are interested in pursuing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) major. Applicant must be 16-22 years old at the time of entry and be a registered user of NextStepU.com.

Minority Women in STEM Financial Need Scholarship // Bold.org

Amount: $10,000

Deadline: June 15, 2023

This scholarship is for undergraduate BIPOC women at the University of Texas at Dallas who are pursuing careers in the STEM field. To apply, write about your career goals after college and how you plan to achieve them.

Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship // Against the Grain Productions

Amount: $1,500

Deadline: May 31, 2023

This scholarship is available to Asian high school seniors and current college students who are citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the U.S. and have at least a 3.5 GPA. Applicants must submit a video presentation showcasing their work and qualifications.

Artistic Scholarship // Against the Grain Productions

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: May 31, 2023

This scholarship is open to Asian high school seniors and current college students who are/will be pursuing a major in the performing and visual arts, journalism and/or mass communications. Applicants must be citizens, national or legal permanent residents of the U.S., and have at least a 3.0 GPA.

STEM Scholarship Program // IMEG

Amount: Up to $10,000

Deadline: May 15, 2023

This scholarship is open to college students in their sophomore through senior year. Applicants must have financial need and be actively pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field with an engineering focus. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Study.com Scholarship for Latin American Students // Study.com

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: May 1, 2023

Graduating high school seniors with plans to attend college in the fall of 2023 and current undergraduate college students in any field of study are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be of Latin American descent and be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Study.com LGBTQ+ Scholarship // Study.com

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: May 1, 2023

LGBTQIA students who are accepted to or enrolled in a college or university in the U.S. are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Financial need will not be considered.

HSC Scholars Program // Hispanic Scholarship Consortium

Amount: Up to $5,000

Deadline: April 30, 2023

This scholarship is open to students of Hispanic/Latino heritage who plan to enroll in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States with at least a 2.5 GPA. Applicants must reside in Texas, but U.S. citizenship is not required.

Maximum Independence Scholarship // Goodwill Industries of Southwest Oklahoma & North Texas, Inc.

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: April 29, 2023

This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors in Archer, Baylor, Clay, Wichita, and Wilbarger counties. Applicants must have a documented 15 hours of community service during their senior year of high school and have a documented disability or a demonstrated financial need.

SDK Foundation Scholarship // Judge Shequitta Kelly

Amount: $1,200

Deadline: April 28, 2023

Two scholarships of $1,200 will be awarded to students with financial need residing in Texas. Awards will be presented in August.

LoadView Women in Computing Scholarship // Access Scholarships

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: April 1, 2023

This scholarship is open to female students currently enrolled as full-time undergraduate students in the U.S. or Canada. Must be planning to pursue a degree/career in computing. Essay required with application.

National Scholarship // National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs

Amount: Varies

Deadline: March 31, 2023

This scholarship is open to African American high school seniors who have a GPA of 3.0 and above and submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Explain the Benefits You Have Gained through the Contributions of Two (2) Trailblazers of African Descent within the past twenty (20) years, and How It Has Benefited You as a Person.”

Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation Scholarship // The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation

Amount: Varies based on applicant factors

Deadline: March 17, 2023

This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and individuals entering their freshman year of college during the 2023-2024 academic year. Applicants must have at least a 3.7 GPA and demonstrate outstanding personal achievements, academic merit, leadership qualities and/or community service. Special consideration will be noted for applicants who have parents who are U.S. veterans or currently in the U.S. military, students with financial need, first generation college students, and students with a documented significant disability.

HOLA at Microsoft Scholarship // Microsoft

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: March 15, 2023

This scholarship is available to Latinx high school seniors who need assistance paying for college. Must be planning to study Engineering, Computer Science, or Business in college. Must have a high school GPA of 3.0 and higher. DACA recipients are eligible to apply.

Flip Foundation Scholarships // Flip Foundation

Amount: Varies

Deadline: March 5, 2023

This scholarship is available to high school seniors and students currently enrolled at any college, university or trade school. Must have above a 2.5 GPA and be a U.S. citizen. Applicants must submit a project based on individual talent (writing, singing, video, etc.). Be sure to note that you have financial need on your application (if applicable), as that is heavily considered.

Amount: $500

Applicants must “demonstrate positive-impact involvement consistent with capacity and circumstances and/or significant improvement/success in scholarship and community involvement.” Must submit 3 letters of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA, and EFC to be considered.

ExxonMobil Engineering Scholarship // LULAC National Educational Service Centers

Amount: $2,000-$20,000

Deadline: September 9, 2022

This scholarship is available to Hispanic high school seniors from Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio who plan to pursue an engineering degree.
