Need A Job? These Companies Are Hiring RIGHT NOW!

COVID-19 (coronavirus) is rapidly changing the way we live and the way we work. You, or someone you know, may have had their hours cut at work due to the virus, or worse, lost their job and are now unemployed.

However, not every company or industry is experiencing employment slowdowns and cutbacks. In fact, many companies in the retail and food service sectors are looking to hire great people like you, RIGHT NOW! Below are several national employers who are looking to hire quickly. Check out their websites to apply for jobs in your area.

  • Albertsons, who owns Safeway and 20 other grocery store companies, are immediately hiring 30,000 employees. Positions include, customer service, deli, bakery, fuel station attendees, delivery drivers, and front-end team (stockers and cashiers). What you should know before applying:
    • Two weeks paid sick leave for employees who are diagnosed with COVID-19 or are told to self-quarantine by their health care provider. If you are sick longer than two weeks, you can file for short-term disability.
  • Amazon Is hiring over 100,000 people in their shopping, warehouse, and delivery driver departments. You can earn $17 an hour and start working as soon as 7 days.No resume or previous work experience is required, but must be 18 years or older to apply for any of the positions. What you should know before applying:
    • Your real hourly pay will probably be $15 an hour. Amazon is providing employees a bonus pay of $2 per hour from now through the end of April.
    • Currently, Amazon does NOT provide paid sick leave for their hourly employees. So if you get sick, you will not be paid for your time off.
  • Instacart is hiring 300,000 workers to help meet their grocery delivery demands. Must be 18 years or older. What you should know before applying:
    • Instacart will provide paid sick leave to workers (employees) who are diagnosed with COVID-19 or are required to self quarantine.
    • You must have a vehicle and driver’s license to be a full-service shopper, since you are shopping AND delivering groceries to customers. These positions are independent contractor positions, and you will NOT qualify for benefits.
    • Don’t have a car? Apply for an ‘in-store shopper’ position instead. These positions are part-time and you are an officla Instacart employees so you will qualify for benefits.
  • Kroger, which owns 29 different brands of grocery stores across 42 states, is hiring for in-store and distribution/warehouse workers. What you should know before applying:
    • Kroger, and all the companies they own, are offering full sick pay to any employee who tests positive for COVID-19 (up to two-weeks). Your symptoms must be verified by an accredited health care professional in order to qualify.
  • Walgreens needs to fill 9,500 full-time and part-time roles across the country, mainly for the following positions: customer service associates (CSAs), pharmacy technicians, and shift leads. What you should know before applying:
    • In late April, all hourly team members will receive a one-time bonus.
    • Up to two-weeks paid sick leave for employees who contract a confirmed case of COVID-19
  • Walmart is hiring more than 150,000 people across the nation through the end of May to work in stores, clubs, and distribution and fulfillment centers. The hiring process is fast - you will find out that you are hired within 24 hours! What you should know before applying:
    • They have both temporary and full-time opportunities available. Many positions will be converted to permanent, but some will not.
    • Walmart DOES offer paid sick leave for their associates who become ill or quarantined due to the virus (up to two weeks). 
    • Additionally, Walmart is providing a $2 per hour pay increase and referral incentives.
