Our Approach & Impact
We leverage technology to meet young people where they are and guide them through three critical journeys.
What we do
Getting to College
Problem: 70% of high school graduates go directly to college, but for low-income and first-generation students, access to guidance and support is rarely available.
Response: Get Schooled provides high school juniors and seniors with 1:1 support and advice that prepare them to pursue college, or any postsecondary educational credential after high school.
Succeeding in College
Problem: 30% percent of college freshmen drop out after their first year of school.
Response: Get Schooled offers personalized support for students during their first year of college, which results in higher GPAs and greater completion rates. We leverage research that best supports first-gen students, and those from low-income families, to persist in their postsecondary efforts.
Finding a Job
Problem: 55% of 16- to 24-year-olds are working, yet very few know how to find jobs that will support their educational and career goals.
Response: Get Schooled provides an accessible, mobile-first, first jobs, job search tool and 1:1 support to help young people apply to jobs and achieve early job success.
How we do it
We connect young people to the resources and support they need to be successful in education, work, and life.
Get Schooled differentiates itself from other youth-focused nonprofits in several important ways. These include: content and supports that are youth-friendly and youth-informed, are strengthened by the latest research, and use accessible technology. Additionally, everything we do is informed by our Black & Brown national Youth Advisory Council, our national Educator Advisory Council, and our local and our thought-partnership with local and national partners.

Through compelling youth engagement campaigns, we've addressed systemic issues in education – challenging the narrative around Black + Brown youth in higher-ed, taking critical steps to matriculate and persist in higher-ed, and empowering young people to take charge of their financial futures.
