John Branam is the Executive Director of the Get Schooled Foundation. John is passionate about improving opportunities and outcomes for all young people, especially black and brown kids and those from low-income families. He’s spent more than 15 years in senior leadership roles in the education and national nonprofit spaces, including having taught middle school in Washington D.C., served as a district administrator in a large urban district and been a volunteer in the peace Corps in South Africa. John feels incredibly blessed to serve as GS’ ED and is deeply dedicated to its mission. John earned his B.A. in political science from Washington & Lee University and a J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law. He enjoys hiking, biking, reading and parenting, and lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and two young children. John joined us in May after having served as the first ED of the 1Million Project.
Carol Rava is the Senior Director of Strategy at the Get Schooled Foundation. She leads the content and digital teams as well as oversees JobLaunch and Youth Hiring Day. She was one of Get Schooled’s first employees and is rejoining us. We are excited to have her back!
Akeela Maxwell is the Assistant Manager of Education Programs and Events at Get schooled. Akeela is a born and raised New Yorker with Caribbean roots. She is also a recent graduate from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor's in Psychology and Youth Studies. Before Get Schooled,Akeela worked with the Department of Education as an Assistant Teacher with all ages. Besides her love for kids she has a love for cooking, she is addicted to the cooking network, loves to hang with her family/friends and is always looking for a new adventure that Get Schooled has in store for her :)!!
David Childers is a Program Manager at Get Schooled. He graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a double degree in English and philosophy. He works as a mentor and college coach for students as they navigate high school academics and life post-grad. He also works to help students overcome common obstacles to college enrollment, such as FAFSA completion, obtaining financial aid and scholarships, and more through by writing and connecting students to resources and providing 1:1 guidance.
David Nguyen is the Director of Digital Engagement Marketing at the Get Schooled Foundation. David makes sure our audience on social media is updated and engaged with the most current Get Schooled initiatives. Being part of Get Schooled is a rewarding opportunity to help inspire youth through technology and sizzle. David’s a University of Washington graduate with a business degree in Marketing and
Daylee Baker is the Manager of Digital Engagement and Strategic Partnerships at Get Schooled. She brings her passion for storytelling, pop-culture, and education equity to the team. She produces award winning national campaigns, leads social media efforts and manages our partnerships with brands and CBOs! She graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in communication and a minor in diversity. When she isn’t curating memes, producing PSAs and tracking down talent—she is baking, reading and planning overseas vacations.
Inesha Williams is the Assistant Manager of Strategic Partnerships. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and visual arts. In her free time she enjoys painting, black and white photography, and experimenting with mixed media projects. Being a part of the Get Schooled team has been amazing and she looks forward to helping more students pursue their education.
Ivana Mladenovic is the Senior Manager of Education Programs at the Get Schooled Foundation in which she manages our national Challenges, helps build and maintain relationships with educators and partners, identifies opportunities for new alliances and develops strategies for engaging educators across the country in Get Schooled’s initiatives. Ivana grew up in California and just recently moved to New York City. She has her Master’s degree in school counseling with a credential in pupil personnel services and has been in the field of education for several years. In her spare time she loves to explore new places, travel abroad and eat good food.
Lisa Lane is the Get Schooled Foundation office administrator. She keeps our office stocked, our bills paid and coordinates materials and support with Get Schooled-affiliated schools around the country. Lisa has a BA from the University of Washington and a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate from Seattle University. She believes learning is everywhere and can be fun! Much of her time away from work is spent with kid related activities and remembering what it was like to be a kid! Favorite things: books, toys, museums, jewelry, music, languages.
Yvonne Ingles is the Assistant Manager of Digital Content at the Get Schooled Foundation. She attended Seattle Central College, a community college, before transferring into the University of Washington. At the UW she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Informatics from the Information School. When she's not writing or designing content, she can be found outside enjoying the Seattle sun (and rain), on a road trip, or curled up with a great book.
Andre Garza is the Assistant Manager of Digital Engagement and Marketing at the Get Schooled Foundation. He graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing. When he’s not designing emails and composing tweets, you can find him creating all sorts of visual arts- from drawing to digital to his unique gum wrapper art (@gumwrappercreations). Andre also enjoys finding new music, watching movies, and rooting for the Seahawks.
Don Hoang is the Digital Marketing Intern at the Get Schooled Foundation. He recently graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications this past Spring. He has motivations to become a great photographer & videographer in the future. His hobbies include playing and watching sports, specifically basketball, football, and tennis.
