Tyreisha's #WeBelongInCollege Story

Last updated February 28, 2021

Tyreisha dropped out of high school at 16 because she wanted to make money and figured joining the workforce early could improve her path. While she was working, she began to steal and was arrested at 18. The judge sentenced her to earn her GED. The judge saw her potential and believed that earning her GED and then pursuing college would help her.

After flunking out her first go-round, Tyreisha was inspired to return to school when her grandmother enrolled in college. She found a cohort that supported her and opportunities along the way that helped her truly believe that she belonged in college.

Tyreisha was a recipient of a $1,000 #WeBelongInCollege Scholarship. Meet the other #WeBelongInCollege Scholarship Winners!
