Last updated May 7, 2021

Didn’t apply to college yet? Did you recently decide to pursue a degree? Have you applied to college but haven’t heard back from any yet? You have options—it’s not too late to apply to college and achieve your goals!

Community college

All college is good college. Community college is a great option to consider if you’re unsure about what you want to study, or weren’t originally planning on applying to college. Attending community college for 1-2 years helps you knock out required classes, get accustomed to the pace and workload of college classes, and cut down on tuition costs! Check out our guide to getting the most from community college to learn about the advantages of starting your education at a community college.

If you still have your sights set on attending a 4-year college, you can always transfer! We have essential information you need, like 5 tips for a smooth transfer from a community college.

Rolling admissions

Some colleges have rolling admissions- meaning that there is no deadline to apply. They review applications as they receive them, no matter the time of year. Different schools will have different time frames of when you can submit your application, and how long it will take to hear back from them. Colleges with rolling admissions are great options for students who might want to delay their college start time by a quarter or semester and focus on work or family.

Ask for more financial aid

Are high costs discouraging you from going to college? You have options! Try requesting more financial aid by talking to your school’s financial aid office and requesting a Change in Circumstances form. This form, along with required documentation—like pay stubs or proof of being laid off from a job—allows your school of choice to take a look at your financial aid offer and adjust it based on your financial needs. We also have great scholarship resources—where to find them, and how to apply for them. We will also review your scholarship application and essay for FREE to give you valuable and actionable feedback! Any extra money towards college costs counts!

Making a college plan can be stressful - but don’t get discouraged! You belong in college, and we are here to help you every step of the way. For more questions about jobs, scholarships, and financial aid, text #Hello to 33-55-77 or hit us up on Instagram @getschooled!
