Dental Assistants - Assist the dentist. They clean teeth and take x-rays. Dental Assistants will be there to prep the patient before the Dentist takes a look at your teeth. They also prep the medical instruments and equipment. You would be good as a Dental Assistant if you are: interested in medicine and dentistry, have a strong grasp of English, active listening skills, and are customer service oriented. Median Pay: $35,000 to $54,999 Projected Number of Jobs: 50,000 or more

Hairdressers/ Cosmetologist - Can shampoo, cut, and color hair. They can also apply makeup or provide nail and skin care services. You would be good as a Hairdresser/Cosmetologist if you: have great hand dexterity to manipulate scissors, hair, and brushes, are interested in sales and marketing for promoting products and services, and like to solve problems. Median Pay: Less than $25,000 Projected Number of Jobs: 50,000 or more

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) - Provide patient care and record patient medical histories. They give basic health care and apply bandages. They can also set up intravenous meds (IVs). You would be good as an LPN if you are: interested in medicine and psychology, have great time management skills, and are customer service oriented with active listening skills. Median Pay: $35,000 to $54,999 Projected Number of Jobs: 50,000 or more

Medical Assistants - Record patient vitals (body temperature, blood pressure). They also clean and prepare patient rooms. They can gather medical information through interviews with the patient. You would be good as a Medical Assistant if you are: interested in medicine, comfortable with word processing and forms, and are customer service oriented with active listening skills. Median Pay: $25,000 to $34,999 Projected Number of Jobs: 50,000 or more

Nursing Assistants - Assist patients with their daily activities such as hygiene and grooming. They help adjust patient beds and rooms. They can also record vitals. You would be good as a Nursing Assistant if you are: interested in psychology, customer service oriented, and have great active listening skills. Median Pay: $25,000 to $34,999 Projected Number of Jobs: 50,000 or more

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) - Respond to medical emergencies. They operate medical instruments in a fast-paced environment. They also record and monitor patient progress. You would be good as an EMT if you are: interested in medicine and public safety, a great critical thinker, and be able to coordinate in tight spaces. Median Pay: $25,000 to $34,999 Projected Number of Jobs: 10,000 to 49,999

Other Health Technicians such as a Radiology Technician - Operate imaging equipment (X-rays, MRI). They protect patients when using the imaging equipment. They also make sure the patients are positioned correctly. You would be good as a Radiology Technician if you are: interested in medicine, customer service oriented, and an active listener. Median Pay: $35,000 to $54,999 Projected Number of Jobs: 10,000 to 49,999

Manicurists/Pedicurists - Clean, polish, and shape nails. They clean the equipment and tools used (nail files, nail clippers, foot baths). They also schedule appointments. You would be good as a Manicurist/Pedicurist if you are: detail-oriented, customer service oriented, and have great hand dexterity.  Median Pay: Less than $25,000 Projected Number of Jobs: 10,000 to 49,999

Massage Therapists - Give therapy treatments to relieve pain, rehabilitate injuries, and to reduce stress. They interview patients on their medical history and maintain medical records. You would be good as a Massage Therapist if you: are interested in human anatomy and physiology, have great hand dexterity, and customer service oriented. Median Pay: $35,000 to $54,999 Projected Number of Jobs: 10,000 to 49,999

Medical records and information technicians - Process and maintain healthcare paperwork. They do data entry of patient/treatment records. They also monitor the activity in the office. You would be good as a Medical Records Technician if you are: interested in clerical work, detail-oriented, and have great English and reading skills. Median Pay: $35,000 to $54,999 Projected Number of Jobs: 10,000 to 49,999
