Ask yourself these 8 questions to help you narrow down your job search and find the right job fit.
What do you like to do?
Think about the type of job you want and the kind of work you enjoy doing. Are you interested in a specific field or industry?
What do you want to learn at your job?
Interpersonal skills like customer service, problem-solving, adaptability, teamwork, etc.,can be applied to any job or career path. Are there other skills that you want to learn at your job? Examples can include experience in a specific industry, marketing skills, sales skills, and more.
How far away are you willing to work?
Do you prefer a job that is walking distance from your home or from school, or are you willing to do a 20 minute commute? Taking your commute into account can help you determine how much time an effort it will take to get to get to and from work.
How will you get to work everyday?
For example, will you drive, walk, take public transportation, or will someone pick you up and take you to and from work?
How active do you want to be while you work?
Do you want a job that keeps you on your feet all day or an office job that requires you to sit for long periods of time?
How many people do you want to work with?
Do you want to work with a lot of people, or do you like to work by yourself?
What kind of environment do you want to work in?
Do you want to work in a fast-paced environment, like a busy shopping mall or stadium? Or do you prefer to have a job that is quiet - like working at the library?
What kind of work do you prefer to do?
