Surviving Finals Week

Last updated May 11, 2020

Rank your finals by date.

Then rank them by difficulty. This will help you prioritize your time with less time spent on the subjects you are confident about, and more time spent on subjects where you are less confident.

Remember that class syllabus

This first hand out will tell you what you should know by the end of class. Use the syllabus to outline your study sessions. If you want to be sure about the final exam topics, clarify them with your teacher and impress them with your syllabus knowledge.

Pull out your old quizzes/tests.

Review them to see how much you've learned! After you've done step 2, determine what you can use to study from with these old quizzes/tests.

Create a study schedule (breaks included)

And do not cram the night before your finals! As tempting as it may sound, cramming is not productive. Your brain will retain more information in shorter, more frequent study sessions than in one long night session before the test.

Apps!

Use  apps to increase your studying productivity

Find a place to study.

We've made  a list of places to help you stay focused.

The night before the test, sleep!

Your brain will thank you. While you sleep, your brain will sort what you've studied to help you recall the information you need during the test.

The day of the test, eat a good breakfast/lunch.

The last thing you want to be is hungry with your stomach pangs taking over your brain power.
