Scholarships Every Toro Should Know

Last updated January 6, 2020

Your scholarship search doesn’t stop now that you’re a Toro. In fact, Cal State Dominquez Hills has a sweet list of almost 30 scholarships available exclusively to Toros. These scholarships are available for both incoming and current students and award varying amounts to qualified students. So, if you didn’t get a scholarship to start your first year doesn’t mean you won’t qualify for it next year!

There are a few things you need to know to make sure you’re eligible for one of the many CSUDH scholarships.

Know how to apply

For starters, know how to apply for the CSUDH scholarships. There is one application for all CSUDH scholarships, although some scholarships will require additional information such as essays or letters of recommendation. If you complete the scholarship application, you will automatically be considered for every scholarship you are eligible to receive. The scholarship application for the 2019-2020 school year opens January 2019.

Be aware of the important deadlines.

While the scholarship application opens in January, the deadline can vary for individual scholarships. Be familiar with the deadlines for any scholarship you are interested in applying for this school year. There is nothing worse than meeting all the requirements to secure the bag, and missing the deadline to apply! You can see the complete list of CSUDH scholarships available on the financial aid website.

Keep your grades up

Work hard to maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher during your college career. Not only does your high school GPA affect the amount of merit aid you receive, your college grades do too! If your grades drop below a certain GPA, you could risk losing scholarships you’ve already earned. If you don’t know what is required to maintain your current scholarships, or to qualify for new scholarships in the future, take a visit to the Financial Aid office and someone will be able to help you. There is money to help you pay for college. Your goal is get your hands on as much of it as possible!

Take a look at Financial Aid TV

Pay a visit to Financial Aid TV to watch videos on everything from the Cal Grant to completing your FAFSA to understanding your student loan options. If it is related to you paying for college, you will most likely find it on Financial Aid TV. Check out the available videos and playlists
