Get Schooled Announces Detroit College Challenge Winners
In the Spring of 2017, Get Schooled and the Detroit College Access Network (DCAN) teamed up to create Get Schooled Detroit, a one stop digital resource for students in Detroit with all the information they need for college.
On October 30, 2017, we are launched our first ever, Detroit College Challenge sponsored by General Motors. The Challenge is specifically tailored to students in Detroit encouraging them to learn about the Detroit Promise, requirements for Michigan public universities and community colleges, financial aid opportunities, college planning, tips how to takes the SAT/ACT and access to a live counselor on our text line to ask questions about college or life after high school.
For the second year in a row, our program in Detroit included 19 schools in the Detroit Metro area reaching 12,313 students and counting. Students and staff collaborated to increase college knowledge, practice for the SAT and increase the amount of seniors that registered for the Detroit Promise.
Congratulations to Jalen Rose Leadership Academy for being the top point earner in the Detroit College Challenge this year. As a result, Jalen Rose Leadership Academy has earned a $2,000 grant and a College Signing Day hosted by Get Schooled.
For the past several months, Jalen Rose Leadership Academy has put in time and effort to stay at the top of the leaderboard by getting their students to fill out the FAFSA, register for the Detroit Promise and stay active on Get Schooled.
