Yolanda A.

"I have been able to better educate the Hispanic community about the educational processes of going to college and the importance of students continuing their studies."

Having a mother that is well known in the Hispanic community is an advantage. With this, I have been able to participate in many community events. These events include health, education, and sports fairs. Hence, my leadership roles have involved directing volunteers at these events or organizing the events. My main goal is to have organizations know about us. I also work as a student liaison that helps connect college students to the group for a cultural exchange. I'd say on a daily basis, I really enjoy this position because it connects me to other people. Also, it gives me the opportunity to teach others what I know in hopes that they will be more passionate about it than I am.
