Juan Carlos A.
“Education is very important to me, because statistically young adults in my community are unlikely to attend college. For me, graduating from college will motivate me to break the cycle of not enough Hispanics going to college and will inspire me to reach out to my community to support the next generation of students.”
My ability to be able to help my community has been very important for me since I moved from California to Colorado in 2007 looking for a better way of life. Not just that, but having a positive impact in my community is important to me because of my rough childhood living in a place where I was surrounded by drugs and violence. With other students in the community I have spent time mentoring youth and teaching soccer. Little by little, changes have occurred and with the help of friends, we have kept students busy and on a correct path.
