Is it really possible to rhyme about education?

Check out Def jam rapstar sizzle!

Overlook your obstacles, don’t overlook your dreams” was just one of many inspired and impressively wise quotes from particpants in our Spring 2011 Defjam Rapstar contest.

Young people from all over the country got lyrical about school and their own dreams.  We at Get Schooled were amazed at the talent in the more than 200 submissions!  And more than 250,000 people voted, viewed and were inspired by the videos they saw.  And there were no doubts that Get Schooled followers can DEFINITELY rhyme about education:

In my world, giving up is not allowed, my limits surpass the sky. I’m aiming so high that if I drop I’ll still be amongst the clouds. I defy the laws of gravity when they try to get me down."

The winner of the contest was Yung Mil, straight out of Portland Oregon.  You can check out his winning video here.   He performed on BET's 106 & Park and even got to meet with Russell Simmons and Kevin Liles to learn how the music industry really works!  Read more about Yung Mil's experience under the bright lights of 106 & Park.
