Our Def Jam winner and Celebrity Text Challenge supporter Yung Mil landed in New York City last week, one step closer to reaching his goals and dreams of becoming a major recording artist.
Some of the biggest names in the industry offered Yung Mil their advice and support on staying committed and true to his passions. We know that it was a whirlwind of experiences for Yung Mil, which included shooting his new music video for “Left 2 Blow,” logging studio time, meeting two of his biggest mentors, Russell Simmons and Kevin Liles of Def Jam Records, and performing in front of a live 106 & Park audience.
Before his performance, Yung Mil said “Just knowing the fact that my lyrics could have touched so many people in a positive light means the world to me … my performance on 106 & Park served as a perfect outlet for it.” Russell Simmons and Kevin Liles offered their advice before the show and inspired Yung Mil to stay committed to his profession. “After meeting with them I realized that I not only want to keep striving to become a great musician, but I feel like I could never live with myself if I were to quit now.”
Now that Yung Mil is back from his amazing trip to New York City he is more motivated and encouraged than ever. “It was more than a chance of a lifetime because I feel as if I left with enough inspiration to keep me striving harder than I ever had before.” Yung Mil’s new music video for “Left 2 Blow” was produced with Roads Art, and he has a new CD coming out soon. His next goal is to work with other big named artists, and this summer he will be on the “Up and Over” tour going to schools up and down the West Coast speaking with students about positivity. Look for his documentary called “Road to NYC” which will be launching soon!
