Over three months in the fall of 2010, Get Schooled inspired 200,000 Americans to step up and make a commitment to improve education. Students made commitments to improve attendance, take college-preparatory courses, bring home higher grades, and help their friends. Teachers made commitments to recognize the potential in every student, to challenge students to take college-track courses, and to work together with their colleagues to make sure no student gets lost. And families committed to making time to check schoolwork, to talk about college and to put education first around the dinner table.
How did we reach hundreds of thousands of Americans? We went to eleven cities in ten weeks, brought talent with us, and surprised and inspired students, teachers and families across the country. Our partners at Viacom, AT&T, Comcast and other media companies also helped us get the word out nationally and in communities. Stops on the 2010 Get Schooled tour included:
