Why You Should Go To Summer School

Last updated March 13, 2020

Taking classes in the summer is a great way to accelerate your education. These are some of the main benefits:

If you're unsure about an academic program.

You can take a prerequisite class for the major you're interested in before you make the full commitment. Interested in Nursing? Take Anatomy and Physiology. Interested in Civil Engineering? Take Physics. Your advisor can help you figure out a course for your intended major program.

Take classes outside of your major program for your personal and professional growth.

Maybe you want to take a painting class because you've been inspired by all the Bob Ross meme's or maybe you'd like to become an expert in Excel. These classes can count toward electives.

Improve your GPA by retaking a class.

Get ahead in completing your degree by finishing required courses in the summer.

You can start a class series early (such as math, science, etc) or take elective classes.
