We’re a small but strong team – working together to create innovative initiatives to inspire and engage young people as they become more engaged in their education.

 

Marie Groark is the executive director of the Get Schooled Foundation.  She helps to set strategy and lead our work with key partners.  Marie has always loved to learn and has always loved pop culture.  Get Schooled combines her passion for the power of a great education with her affection for logging hours in front of a computer or television screen.  Marie began her career as a high school social studies teacher in New York City.  She worked as a management consultant advising public and private sector clients.   Prior to joining Get Schooled, she was a senior program officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.  Marie is a mom of three great kids, and active in her children’s school, girl scouts, and community. 

 

Carol Rava Treat is the director of operations and strategy for the Get Schooled Foundation.  In her role she makes sure the internal workings of our organization hum along while building out our programmatic strategy with schools and districts.  Carol has spent 16 years of her career in education, including work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Public Schools and local advocacy organizations. She has worked as an advocate, a policy wonk, a grant maker, a communicator, a strategist, an operations guru, and an overworked mom of three (job continues) all with the same goal - help youth succeed by improving their educational experience. Her experience has only strengthened her belief in the power of an individual to directly impact the future of thousands of youth.  An avid exerciser and health guru, Carol is obsessed with the local food movement but has totally failed at growing her own garden!

 

Jon Haseltine is the director of insight and analytics.  Jon makes sure that we not only have great data and reports to guide or work, but that we learn from the data and adjust our approach accordingly.   Jon passionately believes that each person can improve the quality of their life by attending school and striving for higher learning. Jon began his career with the Peace Corps in Jamaica and has worked for the U.S. Treasury and American Express.   Jon is a dad to two kids and a hermit poet. And someday he will release his collection to the world!

 

 

Alissa Constable is Get Schooled’s manager of marketing strategy and partnerships.  Alissa leads our national marketing efforts, including partnerships with national and regional media, digital and consumer oriented businesses.  Alissa is passionate about helping people achieve their dreams and believes an education is the first step to bring them to fruition. In her own life, education has given Alissa the strength, courage and agility to be brave enough to face adversity.   Early in her career, Alissa founded the Utopia Youth Network, a non-profit organization,   developed to increase minority students’ exposure to careers in media, advertising, entertainment and the arts.   Prior to coming to Get Schooled, she worked for Interactive One as a senior brand marketing manager.   She keeps energized with quotes that inspire her like this fun one from her parents -   “Eliminate the negative, accentuate the Positive and don’t mess with Mr. In Between”. 

 

Roland Gueverra is the manager of school partnership for Get Schooled.  He leads the efforts to improve attendance and college affordability efforts among 100+ Get Schooled affiliated schools.   Roland brings over 10 years of experience in the fields of education, non-profit management, youth development, strategic partnerships, marketing and music to the Get Schooled Foundation. Get Schooled combines Roland’s belief in adolescents with his passion for music, media and education!   Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Roland holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Boston University. He's a proud father to a beautiful little girl and hopes to create enough change and motivation in the field of education where she, her friends and our future can truly benefit from.

 

Yeri Yun is the Get Schooled Foundation office manager.  She keeps our office stocked, our bills paid and most importantly coordinates materials and support with Get Schooled-affiliated schools around the country.  Yeri works at Get Schooled because she believes learning is a lifelong process and engaging students at a young age is integral in continuing the drive to learn.  Yeri graduated from the University of Washington with an art degree and although she fell into the non-profit world by accident, she finds it to be a great balance of making a difference and pursuing her creative outlets.  When not at work, she like to spend time reading books and playing on Photoshop.

 

Nourisha Wells is the digital manager at Get Schooled. She makes sure our website is running smoothly and up to date with the latest information about Get Schooled programs and initiatives. Nourisha also provides direction in our social media efforts across the Internets. She considers joining the Get Schooled team a masterful work of fate as her entire career has revolved around education in some form or fashion. In fact, she secretly believes education is stalking her, but that's another story. Nourisha is very happy to combine her love of education, obsession with technology and heavy consumption of pop culture into the perfect way to spend her week days. And she hopes to help change the landscape of public education in the process!
