Wow! What an amazing response to our Student of the Week challenge! More than 250 nominations were submitted for the first week of the challenge. We are excited to announce our week 1 winner! Congratulations to Kevin Nguyen, a student at Academy at Palumbo in Philadelphia, PA!
What makes Kevin so special? Well according to his class mate and friend, Timmothy Mak, Kevin deserves this award because he is always willing to help fellow students and his positive attitude makes him fun to have around.
"He is always willing to help me when I need help such as when I had trouble with Spanish I. He would help me until I got it correct and help me remember what the word means," said Timmothy. "Now that Kevin has helped me I have a passing grade in Spanish."
Kevin doesn't mind helping his fellow students because he understands how important an education is to achieve your goals.
"Doing well in school will help me get through life," he said. "I want to go to Temple University to become a pharmacist."
His family and friends keep him motivated to work hard. In fact, he wants to be a pharmacist because his brother and sister are also going into the medical field!
If Kevin could offer students any advice it would be to never give up. Hard work and determination can help you accomplish anything!
